Lost your Camry key, locked it in the trunk, or still have a remote that will not respond? Those are different service requests. Lock Pick helps arrange Toyota Camry car key replacement and key fob replacement in Wilmington, Leland and nearby North Carolina service areas for US vehicles from model year 2000 onward.
Identify your Camry before choosing a replacement
Have the model year ready and tell us whether you turn a key in the ignition or press a start button. Include the trim and whether your vehicle is a hybrid. If you still have a key, keep it available even if its case is broken. A photo of the surviving item can help explain the request; its appearance alone does not establish compatibility.
In the 2025 Camry manual, Toyota describes electronic keys and a separate mechanical key. The Smart Key section distinguishes starting the hybrid system from door entry, which is qualified by equipment. That example does not identify the key fitted to an earlier Camry.
Camry key locked in the trunk?
Toyota warns that the 2025 Camry’s trunk key-detection protection can fail because of the key’s position or surrounding radio conditions. Do not rely on the trunk always reopening when a key is inside. See the manufacturer’s trunk guidance.
If you know where the key is, begin the call by saying that it is locked in the trunk. Tell us whether the passenger doors are also locked and whether a spare is accessible. This helps us assess an access request before discussing a replacement that you may not need. Avoid forcing the lid, lock or interior trim.
When the Camry fob stops responding
The 2025 manual identifies a depleted key battery, interference and metallic objects around the key as possible causes of interrupted operation. It also provides mechanical access and emergency-use guidance for an existing electronic key. Those instructions do not create a replacement for a missing key.
Describe exactly what still works: remote buttons, door access and starting. Note the dashboard message and whether another available key behaves differently. Consult your own model-year manual before replacing a battery or using an emergency procedure. A remote that stopped working after damage needs a different assessment from a key that was lost.
All keys lost, a spare, or just a damaged part?
For an all-keys-lost request, say that no usable key remains. For a spare, tell us which key currently starts your Camry and bring the available keys to the appointment. If only the case or blade is damaged, explain that rather than ordering an entire fob before the item is assessed.
The 2025 manual advises keeping the key-number plate safely outside the vehicle and contacting Toyota with the remaining electronic keys when one is lost. If theft is a concern, raise it when discussing the work. Ask what can be done about the missing key’s access; do not assume making a spare addresses that concern.
What to confirm before Camry key work begins
- The vehicle’s year, key equipment and your authorization to request service.
- Whether the job includes a mechanical blade, remote functions and any required programming.
- Whether the proposed replacement is genuine OEM or an identified aftermarket item.
- The estimate, availability and agreed functions to check on your Camry after the work.
Before buying a remote online, ask us to review its identification for your vehicle. A listing that says “Camry” or shows a similar shell is not enough information to quote a complete working-key job.
