Ford Escape Key Replacement in Wilmington & Leland

Ford

Need a spare Escape key, lost your only working key, or have a fob that stopped responding? Lock Pick provides mobile Ford Escape car key replacement and key fob replacement help in Wilmington, Leland and surrounding North Carolina communities. Call with the vehicle year, starting control and whether any key still works so we can review the right service request.

Which kind of Escape key do you have?

Ford’s 2013 Escape manual distinguishes an integrated keyhead transmitter, whose blade operates the ignition, from an equipped Intelligent Access key for push-button starting. The latter includes a removable driver-door blade. These examples do not identify the equipment fitted to every Escape year.

Tell us whether you turn a key or press a start button. Include the model year, trim and gasoline, hybrid or plug-in version where applicable. If you have a surviving key, keep it available even if the case is broken. A photo or online listing may help describe its appearance, but compatibility needs to be checked for the actual vehicle.

Why the number of working keys matters

The 2013 manual’s owner procedure for an additional integrated keyhead transmitter requires two previously programmed coded keys. Its Intelligent Access section instead refers owners to a dealer. Neither description is a universal procedure for every Escape or for an all-keys-lost job.

When arranging a spare, say how many keys currently start your Escape. A door blade, a remote that only unlocks, and a key that starts the vehicle should be described separately. If no usable key remains, state that at the beginning of the call. Keep all surviving items available so the proposed work can be assessed correctly.

Before buying a part, confirm what the service includes: the appropriate key or remote, any required programming, and a mechanical blade if needed. See the manufacturer’s year-specific spare-key guidance for the cited example.

MyKey restrictions are a separate question

Ford’s 2013 MyKey section distinguishes keys with restricted driving settings from an administrator key. The information display can show the number of each. A restriction message is a different issue from a broken remote button or a missing starting key.

If your Escape starts but displays a MyKey message, report that and whether an administrator key is available. Discuss the requested result before ordering a replacement. Consult the MyKey section for your vehicle; this guide does not promise that making another remote changes its settings.

When an existing Escape remote becomes unreliable

The 2013 manual states that replacing the transmitter battery does not delete it from the vehicle. Battery replacement and adding a new programmed key are separate tasks. Use the instructions for your actual year and remote.

Describe which function failed: button-operated unlocking, door entry, starting or an equipped remote-start function. Mention a low-battery message, damage, water exposure, recent repair or aftermarket alarm equipment. Tell us whether another available key changes the result. Those observations help define the assessment; they are not proof that a complete fob replacement is required.

Preserve the remote, its blade and any identifying information before purchasing a look-alike. An item with the same buttons is not enough information to quote a complete working-key job.

Lost-key and locked-in-key requests

If you know the key is inside the cabin or cargo area, request help accessing it and explain whether the doors are locked. If it is missing, tell us whether a spare exists and can be brought to the vehicle. These details help us plan the appropriate work.

Have identification and evidence of your authorization ready. Give the parking address, entrance and any gate or garage restrictions. If theft is suspected, raise that concern separately and ask what work is available to address the missing key’s access. We’ll confirm the vehicle-specific scope, availability and estimate.

Check the replacement on your own Escape

Ask whether the supplied item is genuine OEM or an identified aftermarket replacement. Review the agreed starting, door-access and remote functions, including a blade and programming where required. After the work, check those functions on the actual vehicle. Include an equipped liftgate or remote-start function only when it is part of the agreed job. Keep a working spare separately from the key you carry each day.
